This Indenture made the fourth day of July one thousand seven hundred and fifth eight between John GILLIAM of the county of Granville in the Province of North Carolina and Frances his wife of the one part and Francis Taylor of the county of the Caroline in the colony of Virginia ____ the man of the other part
Witnesseth that for and in inconsideration of the sum of Three hundred pounds current money of Virginia by the said Francis Taylor to the sd. John GILLIAM in hand paid before the sealing & delivery here of the receipt of which the said John GILLIAM doth Hereby acknowledge they the said John GILLIAM and Frances his wife have granted bargained sold released and confirmed by these presents do grant bargain, sell release and confirm unto the said Francis Taylor his heirs ands assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land situate on the south side of Roanoke River in the county of Lunenburgh containing seven hundred & twenty eight acres now in tenure & occupation of the said Francis Taylor, three hundred and forty three acres part thereof being granted to the said John GILLIAM by Patent bearing date the sixteenth day of August one thousand seven hundred and fifty six, one hundred and eighty five acres other part thereof being granted to the said John GILLIAM by patent bearing date the nineteen day of May one thousand seven hundred and fifty seven and two hundred acres residue of the said tract being granted by parent to John Matthews & by him sold to William Fletcher who sold the same to the said John GILLIAM with all houses, improvement, ____, privileges, & advantages to the same belonging to it & anywise appertaining and the reversion remains estate right, title and interest of them the said John GILLIAM and Frances his wife or either of them in or to the said Land of premises hereby conveyed and every part thereof
To have and to hold all and singular the lands and premises hereby conveyed with the appurtenances unto the said Francis Taylor his heirs and assigns to this and their own property used forever and the said John GILLIAM for himself, his, his heirs, executors and administrators doth hereby covenant and grant to and with the said Francis Taylor his, his heirs and assigns in manner and form following that is to say that he the said John GILLIAM & his heirs the said land & premises hereby conveyed and every part there of unto the said Francis Taylor his heirs and assigns against him the said John GILLIAM ad his heirs and all and every person whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by the presents and further that the said Francis Taylor his heirs and assigns shall and may from time and at all times forever hereafter peaceably and quiet have hold use and occupy and enjoy the lands and premises herby conveyed and every part thereof and take receive the rents & profits thereof to his and their own proper use without the lawful let, hindrance or interruption of the said John GILLIAM of Frances his wife or their or either of their heirs or any other person whatsoever

At a court held for Lunenburgh County the fourth day of July 1758
This indenture was by the above named John GILLIAM and Frances his wife acknowledged to be their acts & deed and the said Frances being privily examined relinquished her right of dower in the lands & premises conveyed by the said indenture all which were ordered to be recorded.
