To the Hon. A. E. Dickinson, Judge Powhatan, Circuit Court
The undersigned commissioners appointed by your honorable court at the April term 1879 to lay off and divide the estate in Powhatan co of which Richard J. Gilliam died seized and possessed into three equal parts taking into consideration quantity and quality and assign one third thereof to the Dept Catherine E. Gilliam to hold as dower in the real estate of the said Richard J. Gilliam and that they divide the said other two thirds into five equal parts divided and drawn as follows to Catherine E. Gilliam the dower, 289 acres
William Gilliam, Lot No. 1, 201 acres
John Gilliam, Lot No. 2, 181 acres
H. T. Nelson and Polly his wife, Lot No. 3, 181 acres
Dabney Gilliam, Lot No. 4, 82 1/2 acres
W. U. Kennon and Bessie his wife, Lot No. 5, 89 1/2 acres
John Swann the Pltff. drawing the two Lots Nos. 1 & 4, drawn by William and Dabney Gilliam all of which will appear by the accompanying plat.

The undersigned Commissioners appointed by your honorable court at the September Court 1879 to lay off and divide the estate in Powhatan county of Which Richard J. Gilliam died seized and possessed into 3 equal parts and assign 1/3 thereof to the Dept Catherine E. Gilliam to hold as dower and that they divide the said other 2/3 into 5 equal parts, do hereby adopt the above report made by the former commissioners, James Sanders, D. W. Tucker, and J. C. Jordan.

In Powhatan County Court Clerk’s Office April 1st 1901, the foregoing purporting to be a copy of a decree of the Chancery Court of the city of Richmond together, with the plat and report to the division and partition of the lands, mentioned were presented in said office and were admitted to record at 3 o’clock pm.
