This indenture made the twenty third day of April in the year of the Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and fifty nine
Between Samuel Taylor of the County of Cumberland of the one part and James GILLIAM of the Same County of the other part witnesseth that the said Samuel Taylor for and in Consideration of the sum of five pounds sixteen shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said James GILLIAM the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by those present doth grant bargain and sell unto the said James GILLIAM and to his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the aforesaid County of Cumberland containing by estimation twenty nine acres be the same or more less and is part of a large tract of twelve hundred acres granted to Richard Taylor, father of the said Samuel Taylor by patent bearing the date the twentieth day of August one thousand seven hundred and forty five and the said twenty nine acres is bounded
northwardly and eastwardly by the said Samuel Taylor
southwardly and Westwardly by the said James GILLIAM and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders, rents issues and profits thereof and all the estate right title interest claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Samuel Taylor of in and to the same or any part thereof to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned or intended to be hereby bargain and sold with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said James GILLIAM his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behold of him the said James GILLIAM his heirs and assigns forever and the said Samuel Taylor for himself and his heirs doth covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said James GILLIAM his heirs and assigns that the said Samuel Taylor and his heirs all and singular the said premises and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtances unto the said James GILLIAM his heirs and assigns forever shall and will warrant and forever defend against him that said Samuel Taylor and his heirs and all every other person and persons whatsoever

Memorandum that on the twenty third day of April 1759, livery and seizin of the within sold land and premises was made and done by the within named Samuel Taylor to the within named James GILLIAM according to Law

At a Court held for Cumberland county the 23rd day of April 1759. This indenture with the memorandum of livery and seizen and receipt indorsed were acknowledged by Samuel Taylor a party thereunto and by the Court ordered to be recorded
