Will of Jemima GILLIAM

In the name of God Amen. I Jemima Gilliam of the District of Newberry & state of South Carolina widow, being sick and weak of body, but of sound mind & memory, praised be God for the same, do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following:

I give and bequeath unto my son Harris Gillam one negro woman named Nell and at his death, to my grandson Charles Gillam,

Also I give and bequeath to my son David Gillam one negro man named Daniel, to him and his heirs and assigns forever,

And it is also my will and desire that my son Harris Gillam, above named, do pay to my daughter Sisley Rodgers eighteen months after my death the sum of forty dollars,

Also it is my will land desire that my son David above named do pay to my son Harris Gillam above named eighteen months after my death the sum of fifty dollars

Also the said David Gillam at my special Will and desire is to pay at the above state time of payment, the sum of forty dollars to my grand daughter Mary Goodman

Also the sum of ten dollars to my grand daughter Jemima Nichols

It is also my will & desire that neither of my sons do sell or dispose of the above mention’d negroes before the money as above stated is fully paid to the several persons as above mentioned.

Whereas my daughter Martha is proved for by a deed of gift signed with my own hand Now in token of the love, good will, and affection I bear toward her I give and bequeath unto her all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate and effects and I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my two sons Harris and David Gillam executors to this my last Will and testament hereby revoking and making void all and every other will and will at any time here to fore by me made; and do declare this to be my last will and testament.

In witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal, this seventeenth day of November in the year of our Lord 1814

Signed, sealed, declared and published by the above named Jemima Gillam as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us, who, at her request, in her presence have subscribed our names as witness there to
