Buckingham Land | Gilliams of Virginia

Buckingham Land Records
Updated November 25, 2022

Background
As Buckingham is a "burned" county, few land records exist prior to 1869. One Plat Book survived and some deeds were later recorded. Below is a table of land records extracted and compiled from
  • Land Tax Summaries and Implied Deeds, Volumes 1 (1782-1814) and 2 (1815-1840) by Roger G. Ward, Iberian Publishing Company, Athens, GA
  • Virginia Land Office Patents and Grants/Northern Neck Grants and Surveys, Library of Virginia
  • Surveyor's Plat Book, 1762-1858,Transcribed and edited by Eric G. Grundset
  • 1815 Landowners’ Directory, Volume 1, Central Region, by Roger G. Ward.

Editorial comments are set off in [brackets]. Locations are measured from the Courthouse. E.g. Planterstown, 16S is at Planterstown, 16 miles south of the Courthouse.
